 |
|
I am currently running a CentOS 5.2 system with ISPconfig and it is a HORRIBLE setup. ISPConfig was bragged up and down.
So I tried it and it has been a disaster from teh get go.
I have been looking at DTC, sysCP and ispCP Omega.
I dont have any reason to use one OS over the other as I am a total linux newbie. What would be the pros and cons of DTC and what would be the best setup for the following needs:
Users can login and change password.
Administer spam control.
Webmail per domain. ie: webmail.mydomain.com or www.mydomain.com/webmail
Pay their bill from the control panel.
Add/remove users.
Trouble ticket system.
Any suggestions for this newbie would be welcome!

DTC has all the features that you are asking for above.
Just one thing: the /webmail for all domains is a VERY bad idea. What you want is that all domains are going to one UNIQUE url with HTTPS (eg: SSL) activated. Now, if you want a link to it, you can configure apache globally to do this, it's really easy, it's a simple Alias directive, and this is not related to DTC directly, but with the way you want to have things. Using a control panel shouldn't prevent you from learning how apache works!
Also, if you want to try all these control panels, my suggestion is that you reinstall the operating system from scratch each time you try a new panel. There would be some configuration problem, that's quite obvious.

I tried to install it with Debian Etch using Vmware Fusion.
I installed the base Debain and went through the DTC Express install.
When I got to the security options, there is no instructions on how to change that, so I skipped it.
I added all the repositores to apt sources.list.
when I do a apt-get install dtc-toaster it fails with a long list od dependencies that are required.
dtc-postfix-courier
mailgraph
ttf-arphic-ukai
tumgreyspf
visitors
dkimproxy
What are these and why did the install fail? The guide doesnt mention any of those depenencies.

These are all available either in our etch repository, or in Debian directly itself. But this forum is NOT for doing support, please open another thread in the correct forum (like de debian one).
